Ravinder S. Dhaliwal, DVM, MS

Dr. Dhaliwal grew up in Punjab a northern province of India and received a degree of BVSc & AH in 1986 from the Punjab Agricultural University of Ludhiana, India. He moved to United States in 1989 and now is a US citizen.  Dr. Dhaliwal then attended veterinary school at Iowa State University to complete his educational commission for foreign veterinary graduates (ECFVG) program. Graduating with his DVM in 1992, he joined All Care Animal Referral Center in Southern California for his internship. Later he joined the University of Illinois for a residency and MS program in small animal clinical oncology. He became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2000. He also became a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (canine and feline) in 2002. 

He is the author or co-author of 15 refereed publications, 8 research abstracts, and a book chapter. Dr. Dhaliwal has his work published in the Journal of American Veterinary Medical Association, Veterinary and Comparative Oncology, International Journal of Applied Research in Veterinary Medicine, Journal of American Animal Hospital Association, the Compendium of Continuing Education for the practicing veterinarians, etc. A sought after speaker, Dr. Dhaliwal has given lot of scientific and professional presentations at the annual professional forums and local veterinary medical associations.  Dr. Dhaliwal's’ research interest includes drug resistance in canine lymphoma, improving clinical outcome in patients with oral cancer and his special clinical interest is in hematology. He was a selected participant at the Molecular Biology of Cancer workshop in Aspen Colorado, sponsored by American Association for Cancer Research in 1996. He is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Prior to joining South Bay Veterinary Specialists he was an oncologist for a large referral hospital in Southern California. He receives referrals in all types of small animal veterinary oncology. Dr. Dhaliwal is dual board certified.  He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology) and a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (Canine and Feline).

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Aarti Sabhlok has recently joined the oncology section at South Bay Veterinary Specialists. Dr. Sabhlok is a Ross University graduate with a residency training at a busy Los Angeles referral practice. She comes to us from southern California where she obtained extensive  experience in medical and radiation oncology. Aarti joins Ravi Dhaliwal in providing comprehensive management of your patients with oncologic problems. Currently, Aarti will be seeing appointments from Tuesday thru Friday.



 



The Veterinary Tumor Institute (VTI.)
VTI is a privately owned regional oncology (cancer) facility located in Santa Cruz County, California. It has been providing full oncology services since 1984 at the current facility. During the last 14 years VTI has established an environment providing modalities, concepts and protocols usually restricted to research environments and academic institutions thus achieving widespread recognition within the veterinary medical community of the Bay Area. In an effort to combine the unique specialized services of both VTI and South Bay Veterinary Specialists, a cooperative alliance was formed creating one of the greatest concentrations of oncology services available in the Bay Area today.
